During Saturday afternoon you can enjoy pottery-painting with Jan Dowding, starting at 2.30pm in the Connections Cafe. It's a relaxing and fun activity... no previous skill needed!
The session will cost £7.50, which includes the ceramic pottery and paints. There will be a variety of pre-fired pottery items for you to choose from. Your finished product will not need firing as it will be painted in acrylic paint and finished with a gloss varnish.
Jan, a former paintress at the world-famous Poole Pottery, is now an artist (oil paintings) and recently went back to her roots to start painting pottery again.
She was born in Dorset and lived here all her life. She says she is inspired by sunsets, colour, nature, the wonderful Dorset coastline and a passion for God who created it all: "I've always loved art and started my painting career in the early 1970s producing hand-painted Traditionalware and one-off pieces at Poole Pottery. Since then I have painted extensively on ceramic, trained in Folk Art and coached other artists in the style."
